Penelitian yang berjudul "An Analysis of Euphemistic Sexual Terms Subtitling in American Pie Present: The Book of Love " ini bertujuan untuk (1) mencari tipe eufemisme istilah seksual, (2) mencari teknik penerjemahannya dan (3) mencari nilai keberterimaan penerjemahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif karena temuan disajikan dalam deskripsi narasi atau tekstual dalam menerjemahkan data. Data yang dikumpulkan dari subtitle film dan sampel diambil dari ujaran yang mengandung konotasi seksual dengan menggunakan purposive sampling.

Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah penerjemahan dan teori tentang eufemisme istilah seksual digunakan untuk menjawab rumusan masalah. Lalu, untuk menjawab rumusan masalah, peneliti menggunakan teori dari Allan dan Burridge tentang eufemisme, teori dari Molina dan Albir tentang teknik penerjemahan dan teori dari Nababan tentang pengukuran keberterimaan terjemahan.

Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa peneliti menemukan total 32 data eufemisme istilah seksual disampaikan oleh partisipan di film American Pie Present: The Book of Love. Pertama, peneliti mengelompokan 7 tipe yaitu metaphor (15 data atau 46.9%), metonymy (8 data atau 15%), circumlocution (4 data atau 12.5%), remodeling (2 data atau 6.3%), clippings (1 datum atau 3.1%), hyperbole (1 datum atau 3.1%) dan borrowing (1 datum atau 3.1%). Kedua, peneliti mengelompokan 6 teknik penerjemahan, yaitu generalization (12 data atau 37.5%), particularization (8 datum atau 25%), established equivalent (8 data atau 25%), literal translation (2 data atau 6.3%), adaptation (1 datum atau 3.1%), dan calque (1 datum atau 3.1%). Ketiga, peneliti menemukan nilai keberterimaan paling tinggi yaitu berterima. Dari 32 data, ada 27 data atau  84,4% adalah berterima, 4 data atau 12,5% adalah kurang berterima and 1 datum atau 3,1% adalah tidak berterima. Kesimpulannya, metaphor merupakan cara yang paling efektif untuk menyampaikan eufemisme istilah seksual dengan teknik penerjemahan generalization dan dihasilkan penerjemahan yang berterima.

The research which is entitled " An Analysis of Euphemistic Sexual Terms Subtitling in American Pie Present: The Book of Love" aims to: (1) find out euphemism the sexual terms found in the subtitle of American Pie Presents: The Book of Love; (2) find out the technique used in translation, and (3) find out the quality of the translation in terms of acceptability. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method since the findings were presented in narrative or textual description for interpreting the data. Data were collected from the subtitle of the movie and the samples were taken from the utterance containing lexical sexual connotation using purposive sampling.

The researcher used translation as the approach and theory of euphemism to answer the research questions. In order to answer the research questions, the researcher used Allan and Burridge's theory of euphemism term, Molina and Albir's theory of technique of translation and Nababan et al’s theory of translation acceptability assessment.

The result of the research shows that there are 32 total data for euphemistic sexual term uttered by the participants in American Pie Present: The Book of Love. Firstly, the researcher classified 7 types of euphemistic sexual terms, namely metaphor (15 data or 46.9%), metonymy (8 data or 25%), circumlocution (4 data or 12.5%), remodeling (2 data or 6.3%), clippings (1 datum or 3.1%), hyperbole (1 datum or 3.1%) and borrowing (1 datum or 3.1%). Secondly, the researcher classified 6 techniques of translation, namely generalization (12 data or 37.5%), particularization (8 datum or 25%), established equivalent (8 data or 25%), literal translation (2 data or 6.3%), adaptation (1 datum or 3.1%), and calque (1 datum or 3.1%). Thirdly, the researcher found that the translation quality shows that the level of acceptability is high. Out of 32 data, there are 27 data or 84,4% considered acceptable, 4 data or 12,5% considered less acceptable and 1 datum or 3,1% considered not acceptable translation. In conclusion, metaphor is the most effective way in conveying euphemistic sexual terms using generalization translation technique and the result of the translation is considered as acceptable.
