Penelitian yang berjudul “Supernatural Elements in The Sixth Sense Film” ini mempunyai tujuan untuk menjelaskan elemen supernatural yang ada di dalam film The Sixth Sense. Teori ini dibagi menjadi enam elemen, tetapi peneliti hanya menggunakan tiga elemen yang berhubungan dengan isu supernatural, yaitu kejadian supernatural, atmosfere suspense, setting tempat di bangunan tua. Cinematic code digunakan untuk menganalisis film The Sixth Sense seperti menggunakan lighting,framing, sound-effect, costume dan properti. Data utama pada penelitian ini adalah film The Sixth Sense. Dalam menganalisa penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Peneliti menemukan kejadian-kejadian supernatural yang dialami Cole bahwa dia dapat melihat dan berkomunikasi dengan hantu. Terdapat tiga elemen supernatural di dalam film. Pertama, kejadian supernatural dibagi menjadi dua bagian yaitu Cole berinteraksi dengan hantu Dr. Malcolm dan Cole diganggu hantu yang mengerikan. Kedua, atmosfere suspense dibagi menjadi tiga bagian yaitu terror hantu, Cole mendengar suara sensurround dan terjadinya terror di rumah Dr. Malcolm. Ketiga, penggunana bangunan tua dibagi menjadi tiga bagian yaitu sekolah Cole, bangunan basement tua dan rumah Derrick

This research entitled “Supernatural Elements in The Sixth Sense Film” is aimed to describe supernatural element existing in The Sixth Sense. Acccording to Harris  theory, it is divided into six elements, yet in this analysis, the researcher only focused on the three elements that related with the supernatural issue, namely: supernatural event, the atmosphere of suspense and the use of old buildings. Cinematic codes used in analyzing the film are lighting, framing, sound-effect, costume, and property. The primary data are taken from The Sixth Sense film. In analyzing the data, the study uses a qualitative method. After analyzing the data, the researcher finds supernatural events experienced by Cole that he can see and communicate with the ghost. There are three supernatural elements inside the film. First, supernatural events divided into two part such as friendly interaction between human and ghost and ghost as scary creatures to human. Second, the atmosphere of suspense divided into three parts such as ghost terror, sensurround sound and terror in Dr. Malcolm house. Third, the use of old building divided into three part such as Cole’s school, old basement and Derrick’s house.
