Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian terapan yang berupa studi kasus pada PT Dinamika Muda Madiri. PT Dinamika Muda Mandiri merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang ekspedisi logistik material tower yang bekerjasama dengan PT NEC Indonesia sebagai customer. Perusahaan harus dapat menekan biaya tanpa mengurangi standar kualitas produk dan pelayanan yang diberikan, karena adanya era globalisasi saat ini agar perusahaan dapat tetap bersaing. Salah satunya yaitu dengan melakukan minimalisasi biaya distribusi (optimalisasi distribusi) dengan menggunakan metode transportasi. Metode transportasi merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk mengalokasikan barang dari tempat asal ke tempat tujuan secara efektif dengan biaya yang minimum. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu Vogels Appoximation Method (VAM) as starting basic feasible solution dan Modified Distribution Method (MODI) untuk menganalisa solusi optimum. Hasil perhitungan dengan menggunakan metode tersebut sebesar Rp 553.115.500.-, sedangkan biaya  dari perhitungan perusahaan sebesar Rp 795.518.500.- sehingga terdapat selisih biaya distribusi sebesar Rp 242.403.000.- maka dinyatakan bahwa metode tersebut dapat memberikan efisiensi biaya distribusi terhadap perusahaan.

This research is applied research in the form of case studies at PT Dinamika Muda Mandiri. PT Dinamika Muda Mandiri is a company engaged in the tower material logistics expedition engaged with PT NEC Indonesia as a customer. Companies must be able to spend the cost without reducing the standards of products and services provided, because there is an era of globalization at this time so that companies can remain competitive. One of them is by minimizing distribution costs (optimization of distribution) using the transportation method. Transportation method is a method used to allocate goods from the place of origin to an effective destination with a minimum cost. The method used in this research is the Vogels Appoximation (VAM) Method as the beginning of a basic feasible solution and Modified Distribution Method (MODI) to analyze the optimal solution. The calculation results using the method amounted to IDR 553.115.500.-, while the cost of the company's calculation was IDR 795.518.500. Thus the difference in distribution costs was IDR. 24.403.000. So this is a method that can providethe cost of distribution to the company.
