Penelitian ini berjudul “peningkatan keterampilan menulis surat pribadi dengan model mind mapping pada siswa kelas VII F SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto”. Penelitian ini dibuat untuk menderskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan menulis surat pribadi siswa kelas VII F SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto dan untuk mendeskripsikan model pembelajaran mind mapping. 
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan melalui 2 siklus. Subjek penelitiannya yaitu siswa kelas VII F SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto yang berjumlah 32 siswa dan objek penelitiannya yaitu keterampilan menulis surat pribadi. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui 2 teknik, yaitu teknik tes dan nontes, teknik tes dilakukan pada saat pembelajaran berlangsung, teknik nontes terdiri dari observasi, jurnal, wawancara, dan dokumentasi foto, data tersebut kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik kuantitatif dan kualitatif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan menulis surat pribadi dan perubahan perilaku belajar siswa. Peningkatan keterampilan menulis surat pribadi dapat dilihat dari perolehan nilai menulis surat pribadi pada siklus I dan siklus II. Hasil perubahan perilaku belajar siswa dapat dilihat dalam proses pembelajaran menulis surat pribadi siswa pada siklus I dan sikus II. Hasil nilai rata-rata keterampilan menulis surat pribadi pada siklus I yaitu 74,46 dan mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II menjadi 84,68. Pada siklus I dan siklus II, dari lima aspek penilaian yang mencapai nilai paling tinggi yaitu pada aspek kesesuaian isi surat dengan topik dengan nilai rata-rata 98,75. Hasil perubahan perilaku belajar siswa menjadi lebih aktif selama kegiatan belajar mengajar, siswa lebih percaya diri ketika mengutarakan pendapat, dan siswa lebih antusias ketika diberi tugas untuk menulis surat pribadi.

The study is entitled “the improvement of personal letters writing skills throught the mind mapping learning model of State Junior High School 7 Purwokerto”. This research was made to describe the improvement of personal letters writing skills in the students class VII F of SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto and to describe the application of mind mapping learning models.
This research is a classroom action research conducted through 2 cycles. The research subjects were 32 students of class VII F of State Junior High School 7 Purwokerto and the object of this research was the personal letters writing skills. Data collection in this study was obtained throught 2 technique, the test and non-test technique, Test techniques are carried out when learning takes place, non-test techniques consist of observations, journals, interviews, and photo documentation, the data is then analyzed by quantitative and qualitative techniques.
The results showed an increase in personal letter writing skills and changes in student learning behavior. Increasing personal letter writing skills can be seen from the acquisition of writing personal letters in the first cycle and second cycle. The results of changes in student learning behavior can be seen in the learning process writing personal letters of students in the first cycle and cycles II. The results of the average value of writing personal skills in the first cycle were 74.46 and experienced an increase in the second cycle to 84.68. In the first cycle and second cycle, of the five aspects of assessment that reached the highest value, namely in the aspect of conformity of the contents of the letter to the topic with an average value of 98.75. The results of changes in student learning behavior become more active during teaching and learning activities, students are more confident when expressing opinions, and students are more enthusiastic when given the task of writing personal letters.
