Penelitian berjudul “Oligarki dan Ekonomi Politik Lokal Studi Kasus Kekuatan Politik Oligarki Keluarga Arab Pemilik Sapphire Grup”. Secara umum, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk; 1) Mendeskripsikan bisnis keluarga Arab pemilik Sapphire Grup dalam merepresentasikan kekuatan politik oligarki di Banyumas. 2) Mendeskripsikan bagaimana kekuatan oligarki mampu membangun bisnis dan mengembangkan pengaruh politiknya di Kabupaten Banyumas. 
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme serta menggunakan perspektif sturkturalis dan pendekatan studi kasus. Sementara dalam pemilihan informan, peneliti menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Di dalam kerangka pemikiran penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka pemikiran ekonomi politik, oligarki, dan etnis dominan minoritas.
Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa sesungguhnya oligarki tidak hilang namun berubah nama dan dengan sedikit penyesuaian agar dapat beradaptasi. Representasi kekuatan politik oligarki yang bersumber kepada kekuatan modal dari bisnis yang dimiliki oleh Sapphire Grup menggambarkan terkosentrasinya kekuasaan material yang besar di tangan segelintir orang yang mengakibatkan semakin besarnya pengaruh dan kekuasaan yang dimiliki. Hal tersebut dilihat dari latar belakang pemilik Sapphire Grup yang merupakan keturunan Arab, dimana warga keturunan Arab sendiri merupakan etnis minoritas, akan tetapi mampu mendominasi di sektor ekonomi lalu berkembang ke ranah politik. Dukungan dari sistem demokrasi yang memerlukan kekuatan modal yang cukup besar untuk merambah sektor politik juga menjadi kelebihan tersendiri yang dimiliki oleh pemilik Sapphire Grup. Kekuatan oligarki yang dimiliki oleh Sapphire Grup dalam membangun bisnis dan pengaruh politiknya berasalkan dari bisnis properti dan pendidikan. Bisnis properti yang menjadi basis ekonomi untuk kekuatan modal, lalu di sektor pendidikan yang secara tidak langsung berkaitan dengan kekuatan massa yang cukup besar. Bisnis properti dan pendidikan dikendalikan oleh keturunan Arab yang memiliki marga Bassalamah. Mulai dari sektor ekonomi lalu merambah ke sektor politik dengan memiliki cukup modal dan massa telah menghantarkannya menjabat sebagai Ketua Komisi D DPRD Kabupaten Banyumas Tahun 2008 dan juga ikut dalam daftar calon Bupati Kabupaten Banyumas pada Tahun 2018. Setelah menduduki posisi di pemerintahan tentu berdampak pada perkembangan pengaruh politiknya. Selain kekuatan modal dan jabatan dalam pemerintahan untuk mengembangkan bisnisnya Sapphire Grup menggunakan jaringan keluarga serta memanfaatkan lemahnya pengawasan pemerintah dilapangan yang otomatis memperkuat posisi oligarki di tingkat lokal itu sendiri.

The title of research is oligarchy and local politics economy case study political power an oligarchy of an Arab family the owner of Sapphire group. In general, this study attempts to 1) described business of an arab family the owner sapphire group in representing political power an oligarchy in Banyumas. 2) described how the power of an oligarchy can afford to build business and develop his political influence in Banyumas district.
This research used qualitative research methods with constructivism paradigm and use sturkturalis perspective and approach a case study. While in local informants, researchers used purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Data collection in this research used a technique of observation, in depth interviews  and documentation. In the framework of thought this research using the framework of the political economy, oligarchy, and dominant ethnic minority.
The result of this research revealed that indeed an oligarchy is not lost but changed its name and with a little adjustment in order to adapt. A representation of the political power of an oligarchy that is sourced to power capital from business owned by sapphire group describe concentration power great material in the hands of a few people who caused the influence and an inflow of powers that they have. It is viewed from the background the owner of sapphire group that is a descendant of the Arabs, where a descendant of the Arabs itself is an ethnic minority, will but capable of dominated in the economy sector and extending into political domain. Support from a democratic system that requiring the strength of a capital that is large enough to encroach on the political sector in the is also a positive owned by the owners of the sapphire group. The power of an oligarchy that is owned by Sapphire Group in building business and political influence from  property business and education. Business of real estate, the basis of the economy to the power of capital, and in the education sector are indirectly pertaining to the power of large enough mass. Property business and education controlled by a descendant of the Arabs who has clan Bassalamah. Starting from the economy sector and expanded to the political sector in the by having masses has been considerable capital and it served as the head of commission D Banyumas district of 2008 and are involved in the a list of candidates for Banyumas regent in 2018. After occupying the position of the government in return will impact in the development of political influence. Than a force capital and official duties in government to develop business Sapphire Group use the network and put a make use of the weakness of the supervision of a government that automatically synchronize strengthen the position of an oligarchy at the local level itself.
