Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) mendiagnosis penyakit utama tanaman jagung dan mengidentifikasi penyebabnya; 2) menilai intensitas penyakit utama tanaman jagung pada aplikasi biopestisida B. subtilis; 3) menguji efektivitas biopestisida B. subtilis dalam menekan penyakit utama pada tanaman jagung. Penelitian dimulai pada Maret 2018 sampai dengan  Mei 2018, dan dilaksanakan di lahan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jenderal Soedirman yang terletak di Grendeng, Kecamatan Purwokerto Utara. Identifikasi dan pengujian formula biopestisia B. subtillis. dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Perlindungan Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Metode penelitian adalah dengan dengan cara mendiagnosis penyakit utama tanaman jagung dan mengidentifikasi penyebabnya setelah aplikasi biopestisida berbasis B. subtilis dengan percobaan lapangan, serta percobaan pada kultur in vitro di Laboratorium Perlindungan tanaman Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Percobaan disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Perlakuan yang dicoba yaitu : kontrol, formulasi biopestisida B. subtilis B1, bakterisida. Masing-masing faktor diulang sebanyak 9 kali. Variabel yang diamati adalah diagnosis penyakit karat dan hawar daun, masa inkubasi, intensitas penyakit, dan AUDPC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gejala penyakit utama pada tanaman jagung meliputi penyakit hawar daun yang disebabkan oleh patogen Herminthosporium sp dan karat daun yang disebabkan oleh patogen Puccinia sp. Intensitas penyakit hawar daun pada aplikasi formula biopestisida B. subtilis adalah sebesar 21, 27%  lebih rendah dari kontrol yaitu 26,98% dan bakterisida 26,35%, sedangkan intensirtas penyakit karat daun pada aplikasi formula biopestisisa B. subtilis sebesar 26,22% lebih rendah dibandingkan kontrol dan bakteriseda yaitu sebesar 28,89%. Efektivitas formula biopestisida B. subtillis sebesar 21% pada  hawar daun dan 9% pada penyakit karat daun.

The aims of this study were 1) diagnosing major corn crop disease and identifying the cause; 2) assess the intensity of maize major disease in application of biopesticide B. subtilis; 3) to know the effectiveness of B. subtilis in suppressing major diseases in corn plants. The research began in March 2018 until May 2018, and was carried out in the field of the Faculty of Agriculture of Jenderal Soedirman University located in Karangwangkal Village, North Purwokerto District. Identification and testing of B. subtillis biopesticide formulas took place at the Plant Protection Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. The method of this study was to diagnose the main disease of corn plants and identify the cause after application of biopesticide based on B. subtilis with field experiment, and experiment on in vitro culture in crop protection laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. The experiments arranged in Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD). The treatments were: control, biopesticide formulation B. subtilis B1, bactericide. Each factor was repeated 9 times, so the overall research unit was 27 units. One research unit consists of 200 plants and set 10 plants as sample to be observed with spacing between lines 70cm and 20cm in line. The variables observed were diagnosis of major corn plant disease, incubation period, disease intensity, AUDPC and phenol analysis. The results showed that symptoms of major diseases in corn plants include leaf rust disease and leaf blight. Identified pathogen types are Puccinia polysora and Puccinia sorghi Scheweinitz cause leaf rust disease, and Herminthosporium sp. causes leaf blight disease in corn plants. The results of statistical analysis showed that the biopesticide B. subtillic formulation had an effect on the leaves and leaf blight.
