Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tanda-tanda yang ditemukan dalam komik digital How To Love karya Alex Norris dan menjelaskan jenis-jenis perasaan (feeling) yang digambarkan oleh tanda-tanda tersebut. Bidang penelitian ini adalah semiotika yang merupakan kajian tentang sistem tanda untuk mengetahui bagaimana tanda-tanda berhubungan satu sama lain dalam merepresentasikan makna tertentu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data yang terdiri dari 12 gambar dari 12 bab. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah; pertama, setiap gambar terdiri dari tanda-tanda yaitu ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Ikon mencakup semua benda dalam gambar yang merupakan replikasi, imitasi, kemiripan, atau tiruan dari objek nyatanya. Indeks terdiri dari semua tanda baik dalam bentuk gambar, kata, frasa, atau kalimat dalam gambar yang menunjukkan hubungan sebab akibat. Simbol mencakup semua tanda yang memiliki makna tertentu saat dikaitkan dengan konteks pada gambar. Kedua, tanda yang ada dalam gambar merepresentasikan 6 kelompok perasaan (feeling) yaitu caring (kepedulian), self-confident (kepercayaan diri), excited (kegembiraan), sociable (keramah-tamahan), sad (sedih), dan inadequate (kekurangan). Kelompok perasaan (feeling) yang paling banyak digambarkan oleh tanda tersebut adalah caring (kepedulian). Hal ini menunjukkan komik digital sebagai sebuah media yang berpusat disekitar cinta sesuai dengan judul dari komik digital tersebut. Selebihnya, komik digital tersebut berfokus kepada perasaan affectionate (kasih sayang) dan passionate (bergairah) yang menunjukkan kepada pembaca berbagai permasalahan dan kejadian yang berkaitan dengan romantic love (cinta yang romantis).

This research is aimed at identifying the signs and color found in Norris’ How to love and explaining kinds of feeling reflected by those signs. The field of this research is semiotics which is the study of sign system to know how the signs are correlated each other in revealing certain meaning. This research uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data consisting of 12 pictures from 12 chapters in How to Love webcomic. The results of this research are: First, each picture contains iconic, indexical, and symbolic signs. The iconic signs consist of all the things in the pictures that are the replication, the imitation, the resemblance, or the simulation of the real object. The indexical signs consist of the signs either in the forms of picture, word, phrase, or sentence in the pictures which show causal relation. The symbolic signs consist of the signs that create particular meaning when they are connected to the context of the picture. Second, the signs in the pictures only expose 6 level clusters of feeling which are caring, self-confident, excited, sociable, sad, and inadequate. The level cluster that is mostly shown by the signs is the level cluster of caring. It represents the webcomic as a media centered around love as per the title of the webcomic. Moreover, the webcomic focuses on affectionate and passionate feelings to show the readers of any problems and occurrence related to romantic relationship.
