FORMULASI SEDIAAN SAMPO GEL MINYAK SERAI WANGI (Citronella Oil) DENGAN BASIS HIDROKSI PROPIL METIL SELULOSA SEBAGAI ANTIFUNGI Pityrosporum ovale

Minyak serai wangi memiliki kandungan citronella sebagai fungisida yang dapat dijadikan sampo sebagai pengobatan ketombe karena mikroorganisme Pityrosporum ovale. HPMC sebagai thickening agent dan foam stabilizer mempengaruhi sifat fisik sehingga perlu dilakukan variasi konsentrasi untuk menentukan viskositas sampo gel yang baik. Sampo gel minyak serai wangi dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi HPMC 0,75%, 1,00%, 1,25%, dan 1,50%. Hasil uji sifat fisik organoleptis, homogenitas, dan pH dianalisis secara deskriptif, hasil uji kemampuan dan stabilitas busa, viskositas, dan persentase zat padat dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA satu arah dan regresi linier. Uji stabilitas dilakukan selama 6 siklus uji Freeze-Thaw. Uji antifungi formula terpilih terhadap P. ovale menggunakan metode difusi sumuran. Peningkatan konsentrasi HPMC tidak mempengaruhi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, kemampuan dan stabilitas busa, persentase zat padat, serta stabilitas fisik namun akan meningkatkan viskositas pada sediaan secara signifikan (p-value 0,000). Formula terpilih adalah Formula II (HPMC 1,00%) dengan pH 8,3-8,8, viskositas 1337-1547 cps, kemampuan dan stabilitas busa 37-81 ml, serta persentase zat padat 10,83-14,17%. Formula terpilih memiliki aktivitas antifungi terhadap P. ovale dengan zona hambat kategori sangat kuat 25,8±5,01 mm. Minyak serai wangi konsentrasi 1200 ppm dapat diformulasikan menjadi sampo antiketombe dengan basis HPMC 1,00%, natrium lauril sulfat 14%, cocamide DEA 2%, propilen glikol 10%, propil paraben 0,2% dan mentol 0,25%.

Citronella essential oil contains citronella as a fungicide which can be made as shampoo for dandruff treatment caused by Pityrosporum ovale. HPMC is a thickening agent and foam stabilizer which has an effect on the physical properties so it is necessary to vary the concentration to determine the best viscosity of gel shampoo. Citronella essential oil gel shampoo was made with variation of HPMC concentration of 0.75%, 1.00%, 1.25%, and 1.50%. The result of organoleptic, homogeneity, and pH were analyzed descriptively. The result of foam capability and stability, viscosity, and percentage of solids were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and linear regression. The stability test is conducted for 6 cycles of Freeze-Thaw test. The antifungal activity of the best formula was tested against P. ovale using a well diffusion method. The increasing of HPMC concentrations do not affect the organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, foam capability and stability, percentage of solids, and physical stability but it will increase the viscosity significantly (p-value 0.000). The selected formula is Formula II (HPMC 1.00%) with pH is 8.3-8.8, viscosity is 1337-1547 cps, foam capability and stability is 37-81 ml, and percentage of solids is 10.83-14.17%. Selected formula has antifungal activity against P. ovale with very strong inhibitory zone antifungal category 25.8±5.01 mm. Citronella essential oil concentration of 1200 ppm can be formulated into antidandruff shampoo with HPMC of 1.00%, sodium lauryl sulphate of 14%, cocamide DEA of 2%, propylene glycol of 10%, propyl paraben of 0.2%, and menthol of 0.25%.
