Penelitian ini berjudul “faktor – faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan petani gula untuk mengadopsi inovasi produksi”. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis variabel mana yang mempengaruhi keputusan petani mengadopsi inovasi produksi untuk memproduksi gula semut. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah umur, pendidikan dan jumlah pohon. Jenis penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dengan ukuran sampel sebanyak 100 petani di Kecamatan Kesugihan 63 petani memilih untuk memproduksi gula semut dan 37 petani memilih memproduksi gula cetak. Alat analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitan ini adalah regresi logit binari untuk menjelaskan hubungan antara variabel bebas dengan variabel terikat.
	Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan variabel umur berpengaruh negative signifikan terhadap keputusan petani mengadopsi inovasi produksi untuk memproduksi gula semut. Pendidikan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan dan jumlah pohon tidak berpengaruh significan terhadap keputusan petani. Ini bisa disebabkan oleh fakta bahwa variasi dari jumlah pohon terlalu kecil.
	 Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa semankin tinggi tinggkat pendidikan petani, semakin mudah juga bagi mereka untuk mengadopsi inovasi produksi. Oleh karena itu, penyuluhan pertanian untuk mengadopsi inovasi produksi harus ditargetkan untuk orang-orang yang lebih berpendidikan. Umur memiliki efek negatif, mengimplikasikan bahwa petani muda lebih terbuka untuk inovasi dan oleh karena itu, harus mendapatkan prioritas untuk dikembangkan.

The purposes of this research are to analyze variables which affect farmers’ decision to adopt production innovation to produce crystal palm sugar. Independent variables in this study consist of age, education, and number of trees. This research is quantitative research method. This research used primary data with sample size of 100 respondents in Kesugihan, consisting of 63 farmers who decide to produce crystal palm sugar and 37 farmers who decide to produce solid palm sugar. The analytical tool used in this research is binary logistic regression to explain the relationship between dependent variable and independent variables. 
The result of the research showed the variables that Age has negative significant effect on farmers’ decision to produce crystal palm sugar. Education has positive and significant and number of trees does not have significant effect on farmers’ decision. This could be due to the fact that the variation of number of trees is too small.
The results imply that the higher the education level of palm sugar farmers, the easier for them to adopt production innovations. Therefore, farm extension to adopt production innovation should be targeted to the more educated ones. Age has negative effect, implying that younger farmers are more open to innovation and therefore, should get priority to be developed.
