ABSTRAK
		Penelitian yang berjudul An Analysis of Jokes Types of Memes on “9gag” in 2016 ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tipe lelucon yang ditemukan dalam 50 meme teratas di situs 9gag pada bulan Juli 2016 dan menganalisis mekanisme humor yang muncul dalam komentar di masing-masing tipe lelucon dengan pendekatan pragmatik. Saya menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam menganalisis data dengan cara menjelaskan gambar meme dan mendefinisikan makna dalam lelucon berdasarkan judul, set-up dan punch line untuk menemukan tipe lelucon. Dari tipe lelucon tersebut, saya menemukan mekanisme humor yang digunakan dalam setiap tipe. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara menginterpretasikan, mengklasifikasikan dan menyimpulkan.

Tujuan penelitian ini dibagi menjadi dua. Pertama adalah pengklasifikasian tipe lelucon yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori Eychaner. Kedua yaitu mekanisme humor yang dilakukan oleh pembaca lelucon dalam setiap tipe lelucon yang ditemukan dengan menggunakan teori Neuendorf untuk menganalisis dan menentukan cara pembaca menangkap lelucon.  
	
		Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lima dari enam tipe lelucon yang ditemukan dari 50 meme, yaitu: Physical (2), Courtship (10), Self-deprecating (1), Inappropriate Behavior (23) dan Boasting (14). Tipe yang tidak ditemukan yaitu Disability-related. Mekanisme humor dikelompokkan berdasarkan tipe lelucon. Pada Physical, Social currency tidak muncul. Pada Courtship, Inappropriate Behavior dan Boasting semua mekanisme humor muncul: Superiority, Incongruity , Arousal dan Social currency. Pada Self-deprecating, hanya Social currency yang muncul. Pengirim asli (Original Poster) meme dalam 9gag sebagian besar menggunakan lelucon dengan tipe  Inappropriate behavior yang kemudian direspon oleh komentator dengan mekanisme Social currency.

ABSTRACT
		The research entitled An Analysis of Jokes Types of Memes on “9gag” in 2016 aims to analyze the jokes types found in top fifty memes on 9gag in July 2016. This research focuses on the classification of jokes types in memes and the humor mechanisms that appear in the comments on each jokes type under pragmatic approach. I use qualitative method in analyzing the data by describing the meme picture and defining the meaning of the jokes based on the title, set-up and punch line to find out the jokes types. Based on the finding of jokes types, I find the humor mechanism that is used in each type. The data analysis is performed by interpreting, classifying and concluding.

There are two objectives of this research. The first one is the classification of jokes types of Memes that is answered by using Eychaner’s theory on jokes types classification. The second objective is the humor mechanisms performed by the readers on each jokes type. I use Neuendorf’s theory on humor mechanisms to analyze the comments and determine the reader’s way in getting the joke. 
	
		The result of this research is five of six type of jokes that are found in fifty memes; they are, Physical (2), Courtship (10), Self-deprecating (1), Inappropriate Behavior (23) and Boasting (14). The type that is not found is Disability-related. The humor mechanisms are grouped based on the jokes types. In Physical, social currency does not appear. In Courtship, Inappropriate Behavior and Boasting all humor mechanisms appear: Superiority, Incongruity, Arousal and Social currency. In Self-deprecating, only Social currency appears. The Original Posters of the memes in 9gag commonly use Inappropriate Behavior type that is later on responded by the commentators applying Social currency mechanism.
