Lokasi penelitian berada di daerah Bantar Karet, kecamatan Nanggung, Jawa barat pada projeksi UTM WGS 84 zona 48S dengan koordinat 673.100 mE – 674.150 mE dan 9.263.500 mN – 9.262.100 mN dan merupakan wilayah yang dikelola oleh PT. ANTAM Tbk. Deposit mineralisasi emas dan perak pada komplek tambang Gunung Pongkor, Jawa Barat merupakan salah satu yang terbesar di Pulau Jawa dan sangat menarik untuk dibahas lebih lanjut. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu pengamatan langsung dilapangan (mapping surface) dan melalui tambang bawah tanah/Underground mine, selain itu dilakukan juga pengambilan sampling urat untuk uji kuantitatif kadar emas dan perak terhadap tubuh urat pada tiap front yang ada di komplek tambang Gudang Handak elevasi 500 mdpl. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa pada daerah penelitian terdiri dari satuan batuan piroklastik yang teralterasi dengan intensitas lemah hingga sangat kuat. Dari hasil pengamatan megaskopis, petrografi dan analisis ASD (Analytical Spectral Devices), tipe alterasi yang berkembang di daerah penelitian terdiri dari 4 zona yaitu, Zona Kuarsa ± Serisit ± Karbonat ± Pirit (Zona Filik), Zona Illite ± Kaolinit ± Montmorilonit (Zona Argilik), Zona Klorit ± Illite ± Montmorilonit ± Pirit (Zona Propilitik), Zona Haloysite ± Kaolinit ± Illite (Zona Argilik). Jalur arah mineralisasi akibat rekahan yang ada pada daerah penelitian memiliki arah dominan utara-selatan dan salah satunya ada pada urat Gudang Handak. Karakteristik urat berupa fasies, himpunan mineral, dan tekstur yang hadir pada komplek tambang Gudang Handak cukup beragam. Fasies urat yang hadir terdiri dari Carbonate-Quartz Facies (CQ Facies), Manganese-Oxide-Quartz Facies (MOQ Facies), dan Grey-Sulphide-Quartz (GSQ Facies). Tekstur urat yang dijumpai pada daerah penelitian sangat beragam namun tekstur yang berpengaruh langsung terhadap kadar emas dan perak adalah tekstur primer berupa breccias, massive, crustiform, dan colloform. Himpunan asosiasi mineral pada tubuh urat banyak di dominasi oleh mineral karbonat, kuarsa, manganis dan sulfide.

The research location is in Bantar Karet area, Nanggung district,West Java on UTM WGS 84 Zone 48S projection with the coordinates 673.100 mE – 674.150 mE dan 9.263.500 mN – 9.262.100 mN and a region which is managed by PT. ANTAM Tbk. Deposits of gold and silver mineralization at the mine complex of Pongkor Mountains, West Java is one of the largest in Java Island and interesting to be discussed further. The methods that is used in this research  are direct observation in the field (mapping surface) and through the underground mine, beside that take the veins sampling for quantitative test of gold and silver value toward the veins body on every front in the Gudang Handak mine complex with elevation 500 mdpl. The result of this research concludes that the research area consists of pyroclastic lithologies which is alterated with weak to very strong intensity. Based on megascopis observation, petrographic and ASD analysis (Analytical Spectral Devices), the type of alteration that developed in the study area consists of four zones: Zone Quartz ± Sericite ± Carbonate ± Pyrite (Phyllic Zone), Zone Illite ± Kaolinit ± Montmorillonite (argillic Zone ), Zone Chlorite ±  illite ± pyrite ± Montmorillonite (propyllitic Zone), Zone Haloysite ± Kaolinit  ± illite (argillic zone). The track of Mineralization direction due to fractures that exist in the study area has a dominant north-south direction and one of them is in the Gudang Handak vein. Characteristics of veins in the form of facies, mineral assemblage and texture which is present at the Gudang Handak mine complex quite diverse. Veins Facies consist of Carbonate-Quartz Facies, Manganese-Oxide-Quartz Facies, and Grey-Sulphide-Quartz. Veins texture which is found in the study area is very diverse, but the texture that is directly influence toward the value of gold and silver is the primary texture such as breccias, massive, crustiform, and colloform. The set of mineral associations in veins of the body is dominated by carbonate minerals, quartz, manganis and sulfide.
