Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari persepsi manajer tentang peran audit internal terhadap kinerja audit internal. Penelitian dilakukan di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) dengan populasi seluruh pejabat di lingkungan Unsoed mulai dari eselon II sampai dengan eselon IV. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan penentuan jumlah sampel menggunakan rumus Slovin. Data diambil dengan membagikan kuesioner kepada responden terpilih yaitu sebanyak 50 orang pejabat.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mayoritas manajer di Unsoed mempersepsikan peran dominan yang dijalankan oleh SPI selaku unit audit internal selama ini adalah sebagai konsultan. Di samping itu, para manajer di Unsoed juga memberikan penilaian yang baik atau tinggi terhadap kinerja SPI. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan persepsi manajer tentang peran SPI berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja SPI. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah SPI Unsoed perlu untuk meningkatkan perannya sebagai watchdog karena meskipun tidak disukai para manajer, saat ini peran watchdog sangat diperlukan untuk mengatasi beberapa persoalan yang terjadi di Unsoed.

This research is quantitative study conducted to determine the effect of managers' perceptions about the role of internal audit on the performance of internal audit. The study was conducted in Jenderal Soedirman University (Unseod) which the population of all officials in the Unsoed ranging from echelon II to IV. Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling technique, while to determine the number of samples using the formula Slovin. Data retrieved by distributing questionnaires to the respondents as many as 50 people elected officials.
The results showed the majority of managers in Unsoed perceives the dominant role which is run by SPI as internal audit unit as long as it is as a consultant. In addition, managers at Unsoed also give good ratings or high on SPI performance. Results also showed the managers' perceptions about the role of SPI significantly affect the performance of the SPI. The implication of this research is SPI Unsoed need to enhance its role as a watchdog because although not favored by managers, the current watchdog role is needed to overcome some of the problems that occurred in Unsoed.
