Penelitian yang berjudul “An Analysis of Speech Disorder as Reflected by Stuttering Speaker Named Katherine Preston at World Congress Lunteren 2013” ini bertujuan utuk menganalisis penyebab-penyebab kegagapan pada Katherine Preston dan menggolongkan karakteristik-karakteristik ucapan gagap yang diucapkan olehnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data utama. Data yang digunakan berasal dari video pidato Katherine Preston pada Kongress Dunia di Lunteren pada tahun 2013, dan sampel dipilih dari ujaran-ujaran yang mempunyai tanda-tanda penyebab gagap pada Katherine Preston. Penelitian ini membahas kajian Psikolinguistik mengenai gangguan berbicara, khususnya gagap. Penelitian ini diawali dengan menganalisis sebab-sebab gagap dengan menggunakan teori dari Chaer. Kemudian, karakteristik-karakteristik ucapan gagap dikelompokkan dengan menggunakan teori dari American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Teori Paralinguistik dan bahasa tubuh digunakan dengan tujuan untuk membantu peneliti dalam menemukan sebab-sebab kegagapan yang dialami oleh Katherine Preston. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peneliti menemukan 17 ujaran yang menunjukkan bahwa kegagapan Katherine Preston disebabkan oleh kondisi-kondisi stres. Dari 17 ujaran tersebut, peneliti menemukan 55 kata gagap. Kata-kata gagap tersebut digolongkan ke dalam karakteristik ketidaklancaran, yaitu dengan tipe pengulangan, perpanjangan, dan jeda bunyi. Ada 21 data pengulangan, 32 data perpanjangan, dan 2 data jeda bunyi. Kata Kunci: Gangguan Berbicara, Gagap, Kongres Dunia di Lunteren pada tahun 2013.

The research entitled “An Analysis of Speech Disorder as Reflected by Stuttering Speaker Named Katherine Preston at World Congress Lunteren 2013” was aimed to analyze the causes of Katherine Preston’s stuttering and characterize the characteristics of her stuttering utterances. The research used descriptive qualitative method for analyzing the main data of the research. The data were collected from Katherine Preston’s speech video at World Congress Lunteren 2013, and the samples were taken from the utterances that have the clues of her stuttering causes. The research dealed with psycholinguistic study which is the study of speech disorder, especially stuttering. The study firstly analyzed the causes of stuttering by using Chaer’s theory. Then, the characteristics of stuttering utterances were characterized by using the theory from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). For helping to find out the causes of Katherine Preston’s stuttering, paralinguistic and body language theories were also applied. The result of the research showed that the researcher found 17 utterances that showing the stress conditions as the causes of Katherine Preston’s stuttering. From those 17 utterances, the researcher found 55 stuttering words. They were classified into disfluency, namely repetition, prolongation, and filled pauses. There were 21 data of repetition, 32 data of prolongation, and 2 data of filled pauses. Key Words: Speech Disorder, Stuttering, World Congress Lunteren 2013.
