Penelitian ini berjudul Cerita Anak Putus Sekolah ( Studi Deskriptif Anak Putus Sekolah di SMK Swagaya 1 Purwokerto Kecamatan Purwokerto Timur Kabupaten Banyumas ). Putus sekolah adalah proses berhentinya anak didik secara terpaksa dari suatu lembaga pendidikan tempat dia belajar. Anak Putus sekolah adalah terlantarnya anak dari sebuah lembaga pendidikan formal, yang disebabkan oleh berbagai permasalahan, seperti kondisi ekonomi, pengaruh lingkungan, dan karena individu itu sendiri. Peneliti memilih Kecamatan Purwokerto Timur dan SMK Swagaya 1 Purwokerto, karena melihat hasil laporan data dari keseluruhan anak didik putus sekolah ternyata Kecamatan PurwokertoTimur yang paling banyak mengalami anak putus sekolah di tahun ajaran 2013/2014 Kabupaten Banyumas.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui keadaan anak didik yang putus sekolah di SMK  Swagaya 1 Purwokerto Kecamatan Purwokerto Timur Kabupaten Banyumas. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan jumlah informan 12 orang yang terdiri dari 5 siswa yang putus sekolah, 5 wali murid, kepala sekolah, dan guru. Teknik penentuan sasaran yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah putus sekolah mereka baru menyadari bahwa pendidikan itu sebenarnya sangat penting, namun karena mereka sudah salah dalam pergaulan sehingga menyebabkan mereka harus di keluarkan dari sekolah. Kegiatan yang dilakukan mereka setelah putus sekolah adalah menjadi pengangguran, bekerja, dan juga ada yang menjadi ibu rumah tangga. Hubungan komunikasi mereka dengan orang tua dan lingkungan sekitarnya masih terjalin dengan baik. Hubungan mereka setelah putus sekolah sudah tidak ada komunikasi lagi dengan sekolahnya.Banyak anak terjerumus dalam pergaulan bebas yang tidak dapat menjaga pergaulannya terhadap lawan jenis. Dan anak inilah yang kemudian selalu mengakhiri sekolah karena sudah terlanjur hamil semua terjadi karena pengaruh dari lingkungan luar atau pergaulan dari peserta didik dan juga karena adanya pengaruh dari lingkungan keluarga.

This research entitled The Stories of Children Dropped-out of School (A Descriptive Study on Children Dropped-out of School at SMK Swagaya 1 Purwokerto, East Purwokerto Sub-District, Banyumas Regency). Dropping out of school is a process of students’ involuntary cessation from an educational institution where they studied. Children dropped out of school are abandoned children from a formal educational institution due to various problems, such as economic conditions, environmental influences, and individuals themselves. The researcher chose East Purwokerto Sub-District and SMK Swagaya 1 Purwokerto because of seeing the results of the data reports of the overall children drop out of school. The data indicated that East Purwokerto Sub-District had the highest number of children dropped-out of school in the academic year of 2013/2014 in Banyumas Regency.

The purpose of this research was to determine the condition of children dropped-out of school at SMK Swagaya 1 Purwokerto, East Purwokerto Sub-District, Banyumas Regency. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method with the number of informant of 12 children consisting of 5 students who dropped out of school, 5 parents, a principal, and a teacher. This research used purposive sampling technique in determining the sample. The result indicated that after dropping out of school, they realized that education is very important. However, they had wrong association so that they had to be dropped out of school. After dropping out of school, they became unemployment, employment and house wife. They still had a good communication with their parents and the surrounding environment. Yet, they had no communication with the school. Many children fell into promiscuity and were not able to maintain their relationship with the opposite sex. Then, these children dropped out of school because they were pregnant. All happened because of the external environment or association of learners and also the influence of family environment.
