Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keterbatasan waktu penduduk komuter untuk berkumpul dengan anggota keluarganya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat bagaimana pola komunikasi keluarga penduduk komuter di Kelurahan Cipadu Jaya Kota Tangerang melalui pendekatan teori sistem keluarga. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode wawancara dan observasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling untuk memilih informan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini bahwa keluarga penduduk komuter memiliki Pola Komunikasi yang berbeda-beda berdasarkan karakteristik sifat orangtua, dan karakteristik sifat anak. Pola komunikasi ibu lebih menyentuh hati dibandingkan dengan ayah disebabkan berbagai faktor seperti tanggung jawab ibu dalam hal pendidikan anak-anaknya, tanggung jawab ayah yang sebagai kepala keluarga wajib mencari nafkah apapun kondisi saat berkomuter, anak yang merasa kurang akrab dengan orangtuanya, hingga ayah dalam keluarga penduduk komuter yang sedikit membatasi diri.

The background of this research is the limitations of time commuting population to gather with family members. The purpose of this study to see how the pattern of family communication commuter population in Sub Cipadu Jaya Tangerang City through family systems theory approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The collecting data used is interviews and observation. This research used purposive sampling to choose informants. Data analysis technique used is an interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The conclusions obtained from this study that the family has a commuter population that Communication Patterns vary based on the characteristic properties of the parent, and characteristics of the nature of children. Communication patterns mother is more heartfelt than the father due to various factors such as the responsibility of the mother in terms of their children's education, the responsibility of the father as head of the family is required to seek any support current conditions commute, children feel less close to their parents, to the father in the family commuter population slightly self-limiting.
