Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif terhadap sektor telekomunikasi dan Produk Domestik Bruto di Indonesia. Judul dari penelitian ini adalah: "Infrastruktur Telekomunikasi dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi: Bukti dari Indonesia 2000-2012". Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek dari jumlah BTS terhadap tingkat teledensitas, efek dari BTS dan teledensitas terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia dan kontribusi sektor telekomunikasi terhadap Produk Domestik Bruto di tiap sektor.
     
     Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah beberapa perusahan kabel dan nirkabel di Indonesia. Jumlah perusahaannya adalah 15 perusahaan termasuk empat besar perusahaan telekomunikasi nirkabel dengan pendapatan terbesar seperti PT. Telkomsel, PT. Indosat, PT. Tri Hutchinson Telecom dan PT. XL Axiata dengan menggunakan purposive sampling untuk memilih sampel.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data dengan menggunakan regresi linier dan korelasi berganda  menunjukkan bahwa: (1) BTS memiliki efek signifikan positif terhadap tingkat teledensitas di Indonesia, (2) BTS dan teledensitas memiliki efek signifikan positif  terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia, (3) sektor telekomunikasi berkontribusi lebih terhadap sektor tersier di Indonesia.

Implikasi dari kesimpulan di atas adalah dibutuhkannya penambahan variabel seperti sumber daya manusia untuk mempelajari kemampuan sumber daya manusia untuk menggunakan sektor telekomunikasi seperti pendapatan sektor telekomunikasi dan jumlah pengguna telekomunikasi. Implikkasi lainnya adalah karena adanya perkembangan di teknologi, cara untuk berkomunikasi juga ikut berkembang seperti menggunakan aplikasi di ponsel, jadi penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mempelajari tentang komunikasi dengan menggunakan internet diperlukan untuk dilakukan dalam penelitian selanjutnya.

This research is a quantitative research on telecommunication sector and Gross Domestic Product in Indonesia. The title of this research is: “Telecommunication Infrastructure and Economic growth: Evidence from Indonesia 2000-2012”. The purposes of this research are to knowing the effect of Base Transceiver Station on teledensity level, the effect of Base Transceiver Station and teledensity level on economic growth in Indonesia and the telecommunication sector contribution on Gross Domestic product each sector.

Populations on this research are several fixed-line and mobile phone telecommunication companies in Indonesia. The amount of the companies is 15 companies including top four mobile phone companies with biggest income such as PT. Telkomsel, PT. Indosat, PT. Tri Hutchinson Telecom and PT. XL Axiata with purposive sampling method to choose the sample.

According to the research result and data analysis with linear regression and multiple correlations method shows that: (1) Base Transceiver Station has a positive significant effect on teledensity level in Indonesia, (2) Base Transceiver Station and teledensity have a significant positive effect on economic growth in Indonesia, (3) Telecommunication sector contribute more on tertiary sector in Indonesia.

The implication from the conclusions above are needed to add more variable such as human resource to learn about the human resource capability in utilizing the telecommunication sector and telecommunication sector such as telecommunication income and subscribers number. Another implication is because there an advance in technology, the way to communicate is also develop such as communicate with internet with mobile phone application, so the advance study to learn about the communication by internet is need to be held on the next research.
