Penelitian ini berjudul “Analisis Semiotik Busana Kontemporer Jepang dalam Fashion Show Film Runway Beat”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan makna semiotik (denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos) pada fashion remaja Jepang film Runway Beat. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, makna denotasi pada data 1 dan 2 digolongkan sebagai fashion (tren), data 3 digolongkan sebagai costume yang merupakan busana etnik yang didesain secara modern, sedangkan data 4 dan 5 busana pria digolongkan sebagai fashion (tren) dan busana pada model wanita sebagai fashion dan dress. Makna konotasi dari busana fashion show di film ini adalah pakaian pria lebih dominan berbentuk jas modern identik dengan trendy. Pakaian wanita lebih dominan berbentuk dress identik dengan anggun dan feminin. Mitos pada ke lima data tersebut muncul dengan adanya keberagaman budaya dari berbagai negara di dunia. Selain itu, busana fashion show tersebut juga dikaitkan dengan warna yang memiliki makna tertentu dalam budaya Jepang.

The title of this research is “The Semiotic Analysis of Japanese Contemporary Clothes in Fashion Show Runway Beat Movie”. The purpose of this research is to describe the semiotic meaning (denotation, connotation and myth) of Japanese teen fashion in Runway Beat movie. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research showed that the denotation meaning on the data 1 and 2 are classified as fashion (trends), the data 3 is classified as a costume which is an ethnic clothing designed in a modern way, while data 4 and 5 of menswear are classified as fashion (trends) but data 4 and 5 of woman clothes are classified as fashion and dress. The connotation meaning of men’s fashion show clothing in this movie is dominated by coat identified with trendy. Women's clothes is more dominant in dress form that is identically same with elegant and feminine. The myth of the five data are exist because of the cultural diversity of various countries in the world. In addition, the fashion show clothes are also associated with colors that has a particular meaning in Japanese culture.
