THE COMPARISON OF JOB SATISFACTION BETWEEN PERMANENT AND CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AT PDAM PURWOKERTO

The aims of this study were to examine the factors influencing job satisfaction of permanent and contract employees and how differences in job satisfaction between permanent and contract employees at PDAM Purwokerto. The population of this study were the permanent and contract employees. The number of samples were 131 for permanent employees and 103 for contract employees of PDAM Purwokerto chosen as the respondents of research. Based on the result of research and data analysis using descriptive analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, the conclusion are: (1) Intrinsic satisfaction factor of permanent employees is higher than of contract employees (2) Extrinsic satisfaction factor of permanent employees is higher than of contract employees (3) Recognition factor of permanent employees is higher than of contract employees (4) Authority/social utility factor on permanent employees is higher than contract employees at PDAM Purwokerto. To increase employees' job satisfaction optimally, management of PDAM Purwokerto needs to pay attention on recognition for permanent and contract employees. PDAM Purwokerto also needs to pay attention on every sub-indicator for permanent employees. Moral values, compensation, working condition, achievement, recognition, social service, and authority must be considered by the company. PDAM Purwokerto should also pay attention on every sub-indicator such as variety, creativity, company policies, security, recognition, authority, and social service for contract employees.
