Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada penerjemahan istilah budaya Jawa yang terdapat dalam novel Entrok dan terjemahan bahasa Inggrisnya dalam novel The Year of The Voiceless. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan istilah budaya Jawa, mengklasifikasikannya berdasarkan klasifikasi istilah budaya asing beserta prosedur penerjemahan menurut teori Newmark, kemudian membandingkan elemen maknanya menggunakan teori frame semantic dipadukan dengan teori componential analysis.
Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari novel Entrok dan terjemahan Inggrisnya dalam novel The Year of The Voiceless.Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan hanya memfokuskan pada istilah budaya Jawa. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah teknik content analysis. Peneliti menemukan 129 data di dalam novel.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat empat kategori istilah budaya Jawa yaitu tipe ecology dengan 9 data (7,2%), tipe material culture dengan 52 data (40,03%), tipe social culture dengan 17 data (13,2%), tipe social organization-political and administrative dengan 51 data (39,5%). Selain itu, terdapat lima prosedur penerjemahan yang diterapkan oleh penerjemah; transferrence dengan 22 data (17,1%), naturalization dengan 2 data (1,6%), cultural equivalence dengan 57 data (44,2%), functional equivalent dengan 44 data (34,1%), dan shift atau transposition dengan 4 data (3,1%). Analisis semantik menunjukan bahwa terdapatbeberapa perbedaan elemen makna antara istilah budaya Jawa dan terjemahan bahasa Inggrisnya. 
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa kategori yang paling sering ditemukan adalah material culture, dan prosedur penerjemahan yang paling sering diterapkan oleh penerjemah adalah cultural equivalence. Disamping itu, frame semantics dan componential analysisdapat menjelaskan persamaan dan perbedaan istilah budaya Jawa dan terjemahannya. Namun, frame semantics yang dipadukan dengan componential analysis tidak dapat diterapkan untuk istilah budaya Jawa yang menggunakan prosedur penerjemahan transferrencedan naturalization. Hal ini disebabkan istilah tersebut tidak terdapat dalam bahasa sasaran, untuk itu kesatuan budaya dari istilah tersebut tetap dipertahankan contohnya omah mburi.Pada umumnya, perbedaan elemen semantik yang ada dalam terjemahanterjadi karena perbedaan konsep antara budaya Jawa dengan budaya Inggris.

This research is focused on Javanese culture-specific items translation found in Entrok novel and its English translation in The Year of The Voiceless novel. This research aims to find out Javanese culture-specific items, categorizes them according to Newmark categories of foreign cultural words as well as his categories of translation procedures, then analyzes the semantic features by using frame semantics theory elaborated with componential analysis theory.
The method applied in the research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source of the research are Entrok novel and its English version The Year of The Voiceless novel. The researcher collects the data by focusing only on Javanese culture-specific items. Moreover, the researcher uses content analysis technique to collect those data. The researcher finds 129 data in the novel. 
The result of this research shows that there are four categories of Javanese culture-specific items; ecology type by 9 data (7,2%), material culture type by 52 data (40,3%), social culture type by 17 data (13,2%), social organization-political and administrative type by 51 data (39,5%). Moreover, there are five translation procedures applied by the translator;transference by 21 data (16,3%), naturalization by 2 data (1,6)%, cultural equivalence by 58 data (44,9%), functional equivalent by 45 data (34,9)%, and shift or transposition by 3 data (2,3%). Semantic analysis shows that there are several different semantic features between Javanese culture-specific items and its English translation. 
Based on the result, the researcher concludes that material culture type is the most frequently type found and cultural equivalent procedure is the most frequently used procedure applied by the translator. Besides, frame semantics and componential analysis can inform both similarities and differences of Javanese culture-specific items and its translation.However, frame semantics analysis elaborated with componential analysis can not be applied for Javanese culture-specific items which apply transference and naturalization procedure. It is because the items are unknown or do not exist in target language, thus the culture entity of the items are preserved, for example omah mburi. Generally, the different semantic features of Javanese culture-specific items and its translation happens because of the different concepts between Javanese culture and English culture.
