KAJIAN MOTIVASI PETANI TIDAK MELANJUTKAN SYSTEM OF RICE INTENSIFICATION (SRI) DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN ANALISIS MEANS-END CHAIN (MEC) DI KABUPATEN TASIKMALAYA

Penerapan metode system of rice intensification (SRI) menyebabkan kesulitan bagi petani, terutama dalam hal teknis. Hal ini menyebabkan penurunan minat petani dan kemudian berhenti menerapkan metode ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motivasi petani yang tidak melanjutkan SRI, topik sentral dan mengidentifikasi atribut, konsekuensi serta nilai-nilai. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan mewawancarai 60 responden kemudian dilakukan pengolahan data data yang meliputi beberapa tahap yaitu melakukan pemberian kode terhadap data, membuat matriks, membuat Hierarchy Value Map (HVM), dan intrepretasi HVM. Data dianalisis dengan metode Means-End Chain (MEC) menggunakan software MECAnalyst untuk mendapatkan HVM serta abstracness ratio untuk mengetahui tingkat atribut, konsekuensi dan nilai-nilai. Kode konten dengan nilai centrality terbesar yaitu “tidak bisa memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga” (0.16), “pendapatan menurun” (0.15), dan “secara teknis sulit” (0.09). Hasil HVM menunjukkan terdapat satu tema utama alasan petani tidak melanjutkan metode SRI yaitu secara teknis sulit.

There are some abstacles identified by researchers during the application of SRI mainly technical method. This affects farmers to stop applying SRI method. The aims of this research are a). farmers’ motivation not to adopt SRI method, b).the central index over the atributes, consequences & values. Data collection were conducted by interviewing 60 respondents. The processing the data follows several steps: firstly giving code to data, secondly creating matrix, and then creating Hierarchy Value Map (HVM) and finally interpretating the HVM. Data were analyzed by which element was using MECAnalyst software to HVM and to calculate abstracness ratio in order to know atribute, consequence and value. The important element base on centrality index are “can not meet the needs of the family” (0.16), “revenue decline” (0.15) and “technically difficult” (0.09). The result of the HVM shows that there are only one reason why farmers not to adopt SRI method, which is “thecnically difficult”.
