Pentingnya PMA semakin sering dibahas dalam literatur terutama tentang arah pergeseran terbaru dari arus masuk PMA ke negara berkembang. Dunia berkembang telah mendapatkan lebih banyak perhatian untuk menjadi tujuan arus masuk PMA khususnya pasar negara emerging dengan potensi mereka dan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Salah satu dari banyak kelompok pasar emerging adalah negara-negara MINT. Dengan demikian, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor penentu dan tren arus masuk PMA di negara-negara MINT bersama dengan peramalan.

Penelitian ini meliputi data tahunan dalam periode 1997-2013 dan berfokus terutama pada negara-negara MINT. Analisis data panel digunakan untuk meneliti faktor-faktor yang menentukan arus masuk PMA di negara-negara MINT. Tren dan peramalan diperiksa dengan menggunakan model trend linier.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa inflasi dan infrastruktur signifikan dalam menarik PMA ke negara-negara MINT sedangkan pertumbuhan pasar, keterbukaan perdagangan, dan pertumbuhan PMTB tidak signifikan. Selanjutnya, tren arus masuk PMA ke masing-masing negara emerging ini ditemukan positif dengan kenaikan berturut-turut selama 1997-2016.

Selain tren ke atas yang mempromosikan prospek yang baik dari negara-negara MINT sebagai tujuan arus masuk PMA, temuan utama adalah bahwa tingkat inflasi dengan efek negatif dan infrastruktur dengan efek positif pada arus masuk PMA, menyarankan pemerintah harus membentuk kebijakan di daerah-daerah untuk menyerap lebih banyak aliran PMA.

The importance of FDI has been continuously discussed in literatures especially about the recent shifting direction of FDI inflows to developing world. Developing world has been gaining more attentions to be host FDI inflows especially emerging market economies with their potentials and rising economy. One of many emerging market groups is the MINTs. Accordingly, the purpose of this research is to investigate the determinants and trend of FDI inflows in MINT countries along with the forecasting.

The research covers the annual data set from 1997 to 2013 and focuses mainly on MINT countries. Panel data analysis is employed to examine the factors determining FDI inflows in MINT countries. The trends and forecasting are examined by using the linear trend model.

The results show that inflation and infrastructure are significant in attracting FDI to MINT countries while market growth, trade openness, and GFCF growth are insignificant. Furthermore, the trend of FDI inflows into each of these emerging market countries are found to be positive with consecutive rises along 1997 to 2016.

Other than the upward trends that promote the good prospect of MINT countries as host FDI inflows, the key findings are that inflation rate with negative effect and infrastructure with positive effect on FDI inflows, suggesting the host governments should shape policy in these areas to absorb more inward FDI flows.
