SMK Wiworotomo Purwokerto merupakan salah satu Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan yang sudah memiliki fasilitas cukup lengkap. Beberapa fasilitas yang dimiliki SMK Wiworotomo adalah komputer dan beberapa alat dan bahan praktikum. Namun, pemanfaatan komputer masih belum optimal sehingga SMK Wiworotomo masih memiliki kelemahan yang cukup kompleks dalam pengolahan data, khususnya pengolahan data nilai siswa. Proses pengolahan data nilai siswa dan laporan hasil belajar siswa pada SMK Wiworotomo telah menggunakan komputer berupa file aplikasi microsoft excel, yang belum terpusat dalam satu aplikasi, setiap guru mata pelajaran memiliki satu file aplikasi tersebut dan bila guru mata pelajaran telah mengisi nilai pada file excel tersebut, guru mata pelajaran menyerahkan file tersebut kepada guru wali kelas untuk di rekap kedalam file aplikasi excel lainnya. Dan kemudian pada saat pembagian raport guru wali kelas mencetak nilai raport siswa dan menyerahkan kepada orang tua atau wali siswa. Sistem seperti ini dapat menimbulkan kesalahan dan hilangnya data nilai siswa karena tidak terdokumentasi dengan baik. Oleh sebab itu, perlu dibangun sebuah sistem informasi pengolahan nilai raport siswa yang terpusat dalam satu sistem informasi yang dapat membantu SMK Wiworotomo dalam proses pengolahan nilai siswa dan pencarian nilai siswa secara efisien.

SMK Wiworotomo Purwokerto is one of vocational high schools which already has complete facilities. Some of the facilities of SMK Wiworotomo are a computer, tools and some lab materials. However, the use of computer is still not optimum, so that SMK Wiworotomo still has complex weaknes in the data processing, particularly data processing of student grades. The data processing in SMK Wiworotomo Purwokerto is still conducted manually. Data processing student grades in SMK Wiworotomo used computer files such as Microsoft Excel files which has not been centralized in a single file, each subject teacher has a file of the Microsoft Excel and when the subject teachers have filled in the excel file, subject teachers hand over the file to the homeroom teacher for a recap into a file in another excel file. And then at the time of the distribution of report cards, homeroom teacher print the student grades and give to parents. Such a system can cause errors and data loss because students grades are not well documented. Therefore, it is necessary to build a management information system of student grades in a centralized, student information system that can help SMK Wiworotomo in the processing of student scores and grades of students to efficiently.
