Program Adiwiyata adalah salah satu strategi pemberian pendidikan lingkungan yang dilakukan pemerintah dengan maksud agar tercipta sekolah yang peduli dan berbudaya lingkungan. Pelaksanaan Program Adiwiyata diharapkan dapat menciptakan kondisi yang baik bagi sekolah untuk menjadi tempat pembelajaran dan penyadaran warga sekolah, sehingga di kemudian hari warga sekolah tersebut turut bertanggung jawab dalam upaya-upaya penyelamatan lingkungan hidup dan pembangunan berkelanjutan. Penelitian tentang Efektivitas Program Adiwiyata ini bermaksud untuk  mengetahui tingkat efektivitas Program Adiwiyata di SMP Negeri 9 Purwokerto ditinjau dari aspek tujuan Program Adiwiyata itu sendiri. Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Sasaran pada penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi di SMP Negeri 9 Purwokerto. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tingkat efektivitas Program Adiwiyata di SMPN 9 Purwokerto secara keseluruhan tergolong sangat efektif dengan indeks rasio efektivitas sebesar 89,6%. Dari keempat dimensi, urutan pertama atau dimensi yang memiliki nilai paling tinggi adalah pengelolaan sarana pendukung ramah lingkungan dengan indeks rasio efektivitas sebesar 92,5%, urutan kedua diperoleh pada dimensi kebijakan berwawasan lingkungan dengan indeks rasio efektivitas sebesar 90,2%, urutan ketiga diperoleh pada dimensi kurikulum berbasis lingkungan dengan indeks rasio efektivitas sebesar 85,8% dan urutan terakhir atau dimensi yang memperoleh nilai paling rendah adalah kegiatan lingkungan berbasis partisipatif dengan indeks rasio efektivitas sebesar 83,9%.

Adiwiyata program is one of the strategies to provide environmental education by the government with the intention to create a school that cares and cultured environment. Adiwiyata expected to create good conditions for schools to be a place of learning and awareness of the school community, so that in the future the school community share the responsibility in the efforts to save the environment and sustainable development. Research on the effectiveness of this Adiwiyata program intended to determine the level of effectiveness of the program in SMP Negeri 9 Purwokerto review of aspects of the destination Adiwiyata program itself. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The targets in this study were students at SMPN 9 Purwokerto. Data collected through questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the level of effectiveness Adiwiyata Program at SMPN 9 Purwokerto overall as very effective with index-effectiveness ratio of 89.6%. From the fourth dimension, or the dimensions of the first order that has the highest value is the management of environmentally friendly means of support to index-effectiveness ratio of 92.5%, the second order is obtained on the dimensions of environmental policy with index-effectiveness ratio amounted to 90.2%, the third order obtained the dimensions of environment-based curriculum with an index-effectiveness ratios of 85.8% and a final order or dimensions to obtain the lowest value is based participatory environmental activities with index-effectiveness ratio amounted to 83.9%.
