Kebebasan Pers memberikan dampak positif bagi demokrasi di Indonesia, namun kebebasan ini dianggap sebagai kebebasan yang terlalu bebas, Tabloid Obor Rakyat salah satunya, Tabloid ini memberitakan sisi negatif Jokowi dimana Jokowi pada saat itu adalah salah satu pasangan calon Presiden 2014 dalam Pemilihan Umum Presiden dan Wakil Presiden 2014 yang diselenggarakan oleh Komisi Pemilihan Umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tanggung jawab Pers (media) dalam pemberitaan pemilu presiden 2014 menurut perspektif Undang-Undang Nomor 40 Tahun 1999 tentang Pers. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah yuridis normatif dengan spesifikasi penelitian deskriptif. Metode penyajian data dalam penelitian ini disajikan dalam bentuk deskriptif naratif dan analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tanggung Jawab Pers (media) ditujukan kepada Pemimpin Redaksi dengan mekanisme seperti pemenuhan hak jawab dan hak koreksi serta penyelesaian sengketa pers diluar mekanisme UU Pers, sedangkan Tabloid Obor Rakyat tidak dapat dikenai mekanisme UU Pers tetapi dikenai mekanisme KUHP.

Press freedom gives a positive impact on democracy in Indonesia, but it is regarded as an over freedom, for example is Obor Rakyat Tabloid. This tabloid proclaims the negative thingsabout Jokowi– he was one of the candidates for Indonesian President in 2014 that was organized by the Election Commission. The aim of this study is to analyze the responsibility of the Press (mass media) in making news in the 2014 presidential election from the perspective of Law No. 40 of 1999 about Press. The method that is used in this research is normative juridical with descriptive specifications research. The methods of presenting the data in this study are in the form of descriptive narrative, and the data analysis were done qualitatively. The results showed that the Press Responsibilityis addressed to the Chief Editor with the mechanisms such asthe responsible fulfillment of the rights of reply, the right of correction, and press dispute settlement outside the mechanism of the Press Law, while Obor Rakyat Tabloid can not be subjected to the mechanism of the Press Act but it can be subjected with the subject to the Criminal Code mechanism.
