Adanya perubahan struktur sistem kelembagaan negara dengan di amandemennya Undang Undang Dasar 1945 serta perubahan dinamika perpolitikan lebih demokratis, maka pengamatan terhadap Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat sebagai lembaga perwakilan dan sebagai lembaga politik sangatlah penting. Kenyataan yang berkembang menunjukan adanya fenomena baru terhadap peran lembaga perwakilan tersebut. Dalam hal pengangkatan duta besar yang pada masa sebelum amandemen murni hak prerogatif Presiden kini telah berubah dengan munculnya ayat baru dalam ketentuan Pasal 13. Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat kini memiliki kewenangan dalam hal memberikan pertimbangan terkait calon duta besar.   
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat dalam pengangkatan Duta Besar pasca amandemen Undang Undang Dasar 1945 serta menjelaskan mekanisme pengangkatan Duta Besar Republik Indonesia. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah yuridis normatif dengan spesifikasi penelitian deskriptif. Sumber data yang digunakan berupa data sekunder dan data primer sebagai pendukung. Metode penyajian data dalam penyusunan penelitian ini disajikan dalam bentuk uraian yang disusun secara sistematis, dan analisis data dilakukan secara normatif kualitatif. 
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peran Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat dalam pengangkatan Duta Besar menurut Undang-Undang 1945 hasil Amandemen terlihat dalam fungsi pengawasan berupa pemberian pertimbangan kepada Presiden dan Mekanisme pengangkatan Duta Besar Republik Indonesia tertulis dalam Pasal 203 Peraturan Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Republik Indonesia Nomor 1 Tahun 2014 tentang Tata Tertib.

The change in the structure of the institutional system of the country due to the amendment of the 1945 constitution and  the change in the dynamics of politics which become more democratic make the observation about the House of Representatives as a representative institution and as a political institution is considered very important. The fact that developed showed  the presence of a new phenomenon to the role of the representative bodies. The appointment of ambassadors, which in the period before the amendments is purely the prerogative of the President, has changed with the advent of a new paragraph  in the 13th article. Now, The House of Representatives has authority in terms of giving consideration on prospective ambassador.
The purpose of this research is to find out the role of The House of Representatives in the appointment of ambassador based on the 1945 constitution amendment and  to explain the mechanism of appointment of the Ambassador of Indonesia. The approach used in this research is normative juridical with descriptive research specification. This research presented in the form of description systematically arranged and the data analysis is done qualitatively normative.
Results from this research indicate that  role of The House of Representatives in the appointment of ambassador based on the 1945 constitution amendment which is visible in the oversight function in form of giving consideration to the President and the mechanism of appointment of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia written in Article 203 of Council Regulation Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 Year  2014 about rules.
