KORELASI ANTARA KANDUNGAN ENZIM NITRAT REDUKTASE (NR) DAN PERTUMBUHAN KLON CENGKEH GRAFTING DAN NON GRAFTING DI LAHAN PODSOLIK MERAH KUNING

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui perbedaan komponen pertumbuhan serta kandungan enzim NR antara klon cengkeh grafting dan non grafting dan (2) mengetahui korelasi antara kandungan enzim NR dan pertumbuhan pada klon cengkeh grafting dan non grafting pada empat tingkatan umur yang ditanam di lahan PMK. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan pertanaman cengkeh milik perusahaan PT Poultrindo Lestari, Desa Senggiling, Kecamatan Teluk Sebong, Kabupaten Bintan, dan di Laboratorium Pemuliaan Tanaman dan Bioteknologi, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan September hingga Oktober 2014. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei yang bersifat deskriptif eksploratif. Teknik sampling yang digunakan ialah Stratified Random Sampling. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini ialah tanaman cengkeh grafting (E. aromaticum-E. oliana) dan tanaman cengkeh non grafting pada 4 tingkatan umur, yaitu umur 10-11, 14-15, 22-23, dan 31-32 bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa klon cengkeh grafting yang ditanam di lahan PMK memiliki tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah cabang, dan kandungan enzim NR yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan klon cengkeh non grafting pada semua tingkatan umur. Terdapat peningkatan kandungan enzim NR seiring dengan meningkatnya umur tanaman cengkeh (grafting maupun non grafting) sampai umur 22-23 bulan, sedangkan pada umur 31-32 bulan, kandungan enzim NR mengalami penurunan. Pertumbuhan tanaman mengalami peningkatan seiring dengan meningkatnya umur tanaman cengkeh (grafting maupun non grafting) sampai umur 31-32 bulan, kecuali pada diameter batang klon cengkeh non grafting. Kandungan enzim NR pada klon cengkeh grafting pada semua tingkatan umur memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, dan jumlah cabang, sedangkan pada klon cengkeh non grafting, kandungan enzim NR hanya memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan tinggi tanaman dan diameter batang pada umur 22-23 bulan.

This research aimed to: (1) know difference components of growth and content of NR enzyme between grafting and non grafting clove clones in four levels of plant age were planted in red-yellow podzolic land (RYP), and (2) know the correlation between the content of NR enzyme and growth of grafting and non grafting clove clones in four age levels were planted in RYP land. This research was conducted in PT Poultrindo Lestari Company clove plantation land, Senggiling Village, District of Teluk Sebong, Bintan Regency, and in Laboratory of Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. This research was conducted from September to October 2014. This research used a descriptive expl¬¬¬¬oratory survey. The sampling technique was a stratified random sampling. The treatment in this research was grafting (E. aromaticum-E. Oliana) and non grafting clove clones in 4 age levels, those were 10-11 months, 14-15 months, 22-23 months, and 31-32 months old. The results showed that grafting clove clones grown on RYP land has a plant height, diameter of stem, number of branches, and content of NR enzyme were higher than that non grafting clove clones at all age levels. There was an increase of NR enzyme following the increase of plant ages until 22-23 months old, whereas at the age 31-32 months old, content of NR enzyme experiencing decrease. At the seem time the plant growth increase as well following the increase of plant ages (both on grafting and non grafting), but it did not occur at diameter of stem of grafting cloves. Content of NR enzyme in grafting clove clones at all age levels have a close correlation with plant height, diameter stem, and number of branches, whereas on the non grafting clove clones, the content of NR enzyme only have a close correlation with plant height, and diameter stem at the age of 22-23 months old.
