Cucurbitoideae merupakan salah satu Subfamilia dari Cucurbitaceae. Penggunaan bukti taksonomi seperti morfologi akar, batang, daun, bunga, buah, biji serta alat tambahan pada tumbuhan selama ini telah digunakan oleh para ahli taksonomi, sementara itu morfologi polen belum banyak digunakan sebagai bukti taksonomi dalam klasifikasi tumbuhan. 
Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui karakteristik polen dari Subfamilia Cucurbitoideae dan mengetahui perbedaan dari masing-masing karakter polen pada Subfamilia Cucurbitoideae. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode survai. Pengambilan sampel polen dilakukan secara acak (random sampling). Preparasi polen dilakukan dengan metode asetolisis. Variabel yang digunakan yaitu variasi karakteristik morfologi polen pada enam marga anggota Subfamilia Cucurbitoideae. Parameter yang diamati yaitu unit, bentuk, ukuran, apertura dan ornamentasi polen. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif 
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi karakteristik polen dari enam marga anggota Subfamilia Cucurbitoideae memiliki dua variasi bentuk polen yaitu subspheroidal dan subspheroidal-plorat. Dua variasi ukuran polen yaitu besar dan sangat besar. Tiga variasi apertura polen yaitu trikolporat, polikolporat, dan polikolpat. Lima variasi ornamentasi polen yaitu retikulat, pilat, ekinat , rugulat  dan klavat. Perbedaaan yang terdapat dari masing-masing polen dari Subfamilia Cucurbitoideae yaitu perbedaan bentuk, ukuran, apertura dan ornamentasi polen.

Cucurbitoideae is one of the Subfamily Cucurbitaceae. The use of taxonomy evidence such as the morphology of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds as well as an additional tool on growing plant this time has been used by taxonomists, while the pollen morphology has not been widely used yet as the taxonomic evidence of plant classification. 
The purpose of this study is to know the pollen characteristics of Subfamily Cucurbitoideae and understand the differences of each pollen character on Subfamily Cucurbitoideae. This research was conducted using a survey method. Pollen sampling was taken randomly. The method used for preparation of pollen was asetolysis methods. Variables that used was variation characteristic pollen from six genera Subfamily Cucurbitoideae members. The parameter that observed were units, shape, size, aperture and pollen ornamentation. Data collected were analyzed descriptively.
The results of this research  showed the presence of two variations of the pollen form namely subspheroidal and subspheroidal-plorat. Two variations of the pollen size are large and very extra large. Three aperture variations namely tricolporate, polycolporate, and polycolpate. Five variations of pollen ornamentation are reticulate, pilate, echinate, rugulate and clavate. The differences from each pollen of Subfamily Cucurbitoideae are different forms of pollen, size, aperture and pollen ornamentation.
