Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Penelitian yang berjudul “Elizabeth Gilbert’s Meaning of Life according to Logotherapy Theory in Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert” ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi makna hidup yang diperoleh tokoh Elizabeth Gilbert melalui konsep Logoterapi dalam novel Eat Pray Love karya Elizabeth Gilbert. Dalam penelitian ini, pendekatan dan teori psikologi eksistensialisme digunakan untuk meneliti novel Eat Pray Love. Kemudian analisis tersebut dijabarkan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif.
Terdapat beberapa langkah dalam meneliti novel ini. Langkah pertama yaitu membaca novel Eat Pray Love untuk memahami isi novel tersebut untuk pengumpulan data. Langkah kedua adalah mengidentifikasi teks yang berisi konsep-konsep logoterapi. Langkah terakhir adalah menjelaskan konsep-konsep logoterapi tersebut dan didukung bukti-bukti yang ada di dalam novel. 
Berdasarkan analisis yang ada, penulis menemukan bahwa makna hidup dalam tokoh Elizabeth Gilbert didapatkan pada setiap fase hidup yang ia alami, termasuk dalam kondisi tragis sekalipun. Makna hidup tokoh Elizabeth Gilbert dalam novel Eat Pray Love diperoleh melalui menerapkan konsep logoterapi yaitu konsep kebebasan dan tanggung jawab, konsep spiritualitas, dan konsep makna hidup. Melalui konsep kebebasan dan tanggung jawab Elizabeth Gilbert menguraikan permasalahan yang ia hadapi, lalu konsep spiritualitas memberikan ketenangan batin bagi Elizabeth Gilbert dalam menghadapi setiap permasalahan hidup, setelah Elizabeth Gilbert menerapkan konsep-konsep tersebut, ia akan mendapatkan konsep yang terakhir yaitu konsep makna hidup yang menjadi tujuan hidupnya.

The research entitled “Elizabeth Gilbert’s Meaning of Life according to logotherapy Theory in Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert” aims to find out the meaning of life in Elizabeth Gilbert as the main character through logotherapy concept in the novel Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. This research uses existential psychology approach and theories. Furthermore, the analysis is arranged using descriptive qualitative method.
There are several steps in analyzing this novel. First, the researcher reads the novel to understand the content and to collect the data. Second, the researcher identifies texts which have logotherapy concept. The last step is that the researcher explains logotherapy concept and supported by many proofs in the novel.
Based on the analysis, the researcher finds out that the meaning of life of the main character, Elizabeth Gilbert are found in every phases of her life, even in her tragic condition. Elizabeth’s meaning of life in the novel Eat Pray Love is found by applying logotherapy concept which are freedom and responsibility concept, spirituality concept, and meaning of life concept. Through freedom and responsibility concept, Elizabeth Gilbert is able to solve her problem. Moreover, spirituality concept gives her peace of mind to face every problem of life. Thus, by applying those concepts, Elizabeth Gilbert is able to get the last concept which is meaning of life concept as her aim of life.
